I need to speak with one of the Malnosso.

[Today, Asch is all over the place. First to the plaza, to check the item bazaar for a few things; next, to the north edge of the village, above the houses, his favourite spot to ~~blow shit up~~ practice his fonic artes; finally, to the opposite edge, sword practice against the targets inside the barracks. He's gotten so restless since Luke's disappearance and he needs to stay on the move to avoid going crazy.

Feel free to bother him at any of those locations or even en route; he could use some socializing.]

[Considering he's already tried apologizing twice and Guy refused, can you blame him? Asch is only partway through the dishes when Guy arrives, and he glances back at the sound of footsteps, expression wary. Now what?]

[Sup, Cloud? Fancy seeing mister grumpy here. Asch spots him from a distance and ponders avoiding him completely, but... that fighting style looks ridiculous, the unwieldy sword even more so. Particularly with how scrawny the user was. Did this man have no education whatsoever in how to use a sword?]

[Hello, a scythe. He hasn't seen one of those used since his last encounter with Largo. Asch pauses at the entrance to watch, giving himself a bit of time to study Arumat's use of the area so he can choose his own place to work. He'd rather they not get in each others' way during practice.]

Also, Cloud feels eyes on him and it's creeptacular. He glances over- oh. That guy. ...who is he again.] Yes?

[Guy looks down, folding his arms and leaning against the doorjamb as he scuffs his boot against the ground.]

Asch gives Cloud another brief once-over then crosses his arms.] You're not using your weapon effectively.

Worked well enough for me in the past.

[Well, colour him impressed. Except not.] And you're satisfied with that?

[Asch averts his eyes at that, lifting the tray to wipe it down.] ...You didn't. [It really was uncalled for. He just hadn't expected it to be so unforgivable.]

[Well, the grudge-holding was what he was referring to, so Guy rubs the back of his neck.] Sorry.

I'm not dead yet. [Cloud knows he doesn't have any technical training, but considering he can put down a dragon summon with his subpar abilities, they're good enough for him.]

...Yet. [Oh well. If he wants to flail around like a novice, that's his choice. Asch shrugs, stepping past him and unsheathing his sword to start working on his drills. He doesn't have time to waste on someone who obviously seems as disgruntled as he is.]

...Are you alright now? [He's still cautious, so he wants to be sure. Scrub, scrub, set aside, scrub, scrub...]

Enough. [Guy has a seat at the table.]

[Well shit, he's staying. Cloud doesn't want to practice in front of a trained soldier and look like an idiot now. Goddammit Asch, you're a prick.

...hm.] ...so, what. You know how to use a sword like this?

I know how to use a sword. [Asch glances back pointedly as he says the word, his own blade rising, obviously smaller than Cloud's. Trying to cart around a broadsword that massive would look ridiculous- even the Key of Lorelei is too big for effective use, in his opinion. His Maestro sword suits him much better.]

[Asch pauses to consider that, setting aside the last dish and drying his hands before stepping over to the table beside Guy, hands braced on the back of another chair.] ...I don't... really think, when I say most things. ["I'm sorry" just feels so hollow, knowing what the problem is.]

I have to use swords like this. [He's not sure why, but all his "techniques" and everything- and Zack's memory. ...even though he's alive. ...and he's not using the Buster anymore.]

They work fine. [So don't give it that look.]

[Oh Asch you say that like it's some big revelation.] I know that. That's why I shouldn't have taken it so hard.

You can use whatever you want, I don't care. But if your claim to success is "I'm not dead yet", I can't really help but question your logic.

[E-erm. Well.] It's not your responsibility to be immune to my mistakes. Go ahead and get angry- maybe that way I'll actually learn instead of doing the same thing over and over.

Might be a good idea to keep your opinion to yourself if you don't know what you're talking about.
