[After Guy's rather uneventful kidnapping right under their noses, Asch is feeling suitably irritated and downight volatile. He's trying to channel his temper into a more productive use, however; early in the day, he can be found stretched out on the lawn behind House 5, lying on his stomach and facing Star, the yellow cheagle. From the look of things, he's playing a rather bizarre game of fire Ping Pong with it- Star spits a fireball at him, and he uses his palm to either dissolve it or bat it back at the cheagle, who dodges deftly. Each time, Asch flicks a little treat in Star's direction, who munches it down before starting the cycle over again.

If one were to look closely, they might see a little flicker of light on Asch's palm right before the fire touches it. At his side are two swords, both sheathed; one, the Maestro sword, the other an unfamiliar katana. If caught in the moment he might actually look... relaxed, despite the situation. It's not going to last long, though.]

[Asch gives Luke a dry look, obviously unimpressed by his deduction.] Of course it was hyperresonance, what else could it have been?

It's fine. [Asch waves her off dismissively, suddenly looking very interested in his glove for any signs of damage. Meanwhile, Star chirps a greeting, using only "mieu" at first before finally giving her a proper "hello!" He's still learning.]

[Luke gives a little wince and looks back down at Star again. Come on, Asch, he was just confirming for himself. ): He resists the urge to just lay down at Asch's feet, though, and instead goes on with what he intended to say.]

You're really good at it. I'm not really surprised, though... [Heck, Luke can write things with his. And he and Asch neutralized the miasma together. That's got to say something about them.]

...Hm. [Compliments, from the replica? Nonsense, that just shouldn't happen, nor should he accept it. But-

...Okay, okay. Truce. He was going to try. At the very least, for Guy's sake- for them to fight while he's gone is just wrong, and downright unfair. After all, he'd been trying to help them get along.]

How were you trained, then? I know it wasn't Van.

Tear trained me. [He can't help but smile a little from the fond memories, and he goes back to scritching Star behind his big ears.] She taught me how to feel the seventh fonons flowing through the world and how to gather them within me. It was just basic training at first, but if it hadn't been for her... I probably wouldn't have been able to do all that I've done with it.

What were you doing before, playing? Is this your pet, Master Asch? He's very cute... [Miyabi giggles at the mewl and pets the space between Star's eyes affectionately, speaking again to him.]

It's very nice to meet you, I'm Miyabi. What's your name? Is Asch treating you well?

[Tear, huh. Well, that's logical enough. She's an accomplished Seventh Fonist, perhaps even moreso than Natalia, though that's likely because Natalia focuses more on her archery skills. Tear had more of a balance between light and dark in her fonic artes. Still...]

Your training is incomplete. If you knew more you'd have recognized what I was doing immediately.

...Pet? No, he's... [The little cheagle cuts Asch off, much to his irritation, cheerfully piping about how he's helping with "special training", and that his name is Star. And then - awkwardly - that he's an original like Master Asch. Whatever that means 8D] ...Shut up, Star. She doesn't need all the details.

Yeah... I know. Tear's a great teacher, but I don't think either of us knew what hyperresonance was really like.

[... Saaaay.]

Hey... Asch?

[The poncle blinks, tilting her head in confusion, and gives the redhead a searching look. Her brow shoots up at his words and her searching look becomes one that spells a nice, hearty game of 20 Questions later. But back to the cute, furry animal first.]

Star? That's a very nice name. What exactly are you though, little Star? You don't look like a rabbit...

...Oh. [She sounds a bit disappointed. A chance to make herself useful, lost.] Early bird catches the worm, I guess.

May I join you?

[...Yeah, he's kind of suspicious about what's coming next, but-]

[What an interesting scene to walk by. She will pause and watch them for a few moments]

[Annoyed, Asch looks away, his hand setting down firmly on the cheagle's head - not to hurt, but to warn, and the little creature squeaks and ducks down as if being scolded. He does politely answer that "Star is Star", leaving it up to Asch to explain.] He's a cheagle. They're sacred beasts on my world.

[Er. Well, yeah, that's true enough, and he doesn't exactly feel guilty, but...

He can still ask, at least. Since she sounds so disappointed.]

...I have another favour to ask, anyway. Can you come over here?

You know a lot about how to use the hyperresonance, so... Do you think you could help me with the rest of my training? [He opens his fist and looks down at his hand, half to ponder about that forceful power within him, half to avoid looking at Asch.] You might be the only one who could.

[Asch sits up abruptly at her voice - he hadn't been paying much attention, in mid-hyperresonance, and thus hadn't heard her approach. He's lucky Star had been paying attention or he'd have gotten an unpleasant (and burning) surprise.]

...Whatever you want.

[The fireball ping-pong continues for a moment until Star notices her, letting out a curious "mieu", which causes Asch to glance over his shoulder. Oh geez, he had an audience again?]

[Nephry actually blushes a little]

I didn't mean to interrupt.

You- [The snippy retort - and predictable refusal - is halfway out of his mouth before he stops himself, awkwardly looking away.] I'm not a good teacher.

[Bwaha, he caught you, lurker. Asch sits up at once, though, looking equally embarrassed to have been caught like that.] You didn't, I was just finishing.

What were you doing?

Sacred beast? [Miyabi looks back into Star's big eyes, smiles, pets him tenderly, then jumps up onto the back of Asch's hand to look at him properly when speaking.] Then I hope you're taking extra good care of him.

Now, what's this about special training?

Hyperresonance training. [No sense in beating around the bush about it. He seems quite interested in studying his hands, rather than focusing on her. In the meantime, Star realizes the game is over and scampers over to sit with Natalia for a while.] Something I've been working on for a while.
