Natalia's gone back.

[And he's... not sure how he even feels about that, especially since it's the second time now. He's not the sort to broadcast his feelings on the matter anyway, so he'll leave it at that.]

If you've prepared everything you need, it's about time we meet.

[Asch won't be around the house much today; he'll probably be home late. His main haunts today will be the Battle Dome, the library, (maybe a quick bite to eat in the plaza |D) and finally Good Spirits to ~~sulk~~ read a book in a tucked-away corner of the bar. ...Though the amount of reading may decrease depending on what he's drinking over the course of the evening...

Oddly enough, Star the cheagle will be tagging along with him over the course of the day.]

[ ah, how sweet. Kirsi produces a sound rather like a coo, like a mother bird might make for her newborns, low and quiet. when she feels Star won't spook, she'll carefully pet the cheagle's head, gently.

she'll look back up at Asch, then nod her head. ]

Your-- [ ahhh, this word. points at his head with her free arm. ] Red. Strange -- color.

[...Oh, it's the other replica. HMMMMMM 8| Bad moods don't make for a polite Asch, but good moods are few and far between anyway. Playing it safe, then.]

...I didn't know you knew her. [Though this is Natalia- she probably had more friends than he could ever dream of having. She's a charismatic person, after all.]

[Star responds with a quiet "mieu" of approval, tilting his head to give her hand a tiny nibble, as a test. Cheagles eat fruit and soft vegetation, though, so it's not even enough to break the wood finish. Once he's determined that she isn't edible, he goes back to nuzzling.

Asch blinks at that, surprised; not many strangers really give his hair any attention.]

What's so strange about red hair?

... we met when she came back that day... from the Malnosso. I was out by the lake when I heard her... [ shakes her head ] I helped her out of the water and tried to keep her warm until help arrived. After a while, I went to look to see if anyone was coming... by the time I got back, she was gone. The person she was waiting for must have picked her up.

[ a pause. softly ] She said she'd teach me how to make a bow.

[That explains things. Well, she gets bonus points for helping Natalia. He finds the bow bit more surprising, though.]

She knows how?

That's what she said. The best bow is one you make yourself... something like that. ... it was really sweet of her.

Will she be okay back home?

[Dist's just testing a few of the machines in one of the rooms, making sure he knows how to operate them before actually...operating them. It doesn't take him very long at all to get a basic understanding, and he glances up once he hears footsteps outside the room we was in. Spotting Asch and the cheagle is relatively easy after that; they stick out.]

So Natalia's returned home . . .

[ He wants to be happy for her. And he is, though he can't help but already miss her, especially since he hadn't seen her in a while.

Yeah, he'll be happy for her. In a bit. First, manners. ]

Thank you for telling us. It's [ hm, how to put this ] good to hear that she's back to where her people are.

Has she? ...I'm sorry to hear that, Asch, but thank you for informing us.

[...Yeah, sounds like something Natalia would say.]

[He has too much faith in her ability to lead her country to prosperity- he could never doubt her.]

It's where she belongs. [It's good... of course it's good. Who would want her to stay here?]

[ Kirsi doesn't seem to mind. This is pretty normal for her, actually -- many of the animals she comes into contact with try to chew on her before getting used to her presence. Most aren't too rough about it. (Though she had to be extra careful with the wolves.) She'll continue to pet the cheagle, continuing to make cooing noises at it.

Even while Star gets those noises, she'll still talk to Asch, sending the words directly up to him. ]

It is -- unusual. Back -- home. Very ... rare. [ there is warmth in her voice to suggest a smile. ] Only. Visitors. Far Away. Have -- red hair.

It is nice.

Forget it. [All these people thanking him. Ugh, he should've left this up to Guy.]

[At least he can't see her flinch]

Is... [the rest of the sentence just dies there.]

Don't say that, you'll jinx it. [He hates having to break the news to Natalia again and again and see that look on her face. Score, he's such a bastard.]

Whereabouts are you?

[...Huh. Bonus points for complimenting the hair, maybe, but there's still the fact that he's talking to a bedpost. Seriously what.]

[ there is an echo of laughter on the wind. such an impatient human. they are all so impatient, always rushing, moving quickly. what is the hurry? can you not stay and talk for a while with a winter spirit?

fine, then. she will give him something to focus on. she strokes Star's head again. ]

...Hmph. [Asch is quiet for a moment, then Star starts to pipe up, and Asch shoves him back down. Nevermind that the cheagle can't talk over the journal anyway.] I'm at the library, why?

...why do you have Star with you in the library?

[At Dist's voice, Star immediately starts to scramble away to escape, but Asch grabs him by the scruff of the neck, holding him out so he doesn't start setting things on fire.]

We already talked about this, dammit! He's not... ugh. Stupid. Hey, Dist, say something nice to the damn cheagle already!

...He wanted to come with me. [That's... a perfectly valid explanation. Yes.]

[ well. that was more to be sure she wasn't going back to something bad... or nothing at all. hearing him say that is honestly very reassuring -- she even lets out a small sigh of relief. ]

Good. I'm glad. .... thanks for letting us know, Asch.

[Yeah except that PAUSE makes it suspicious.]

...all right.

Will you be home later tonight?

It's a cheagle. This is Star. [Probably too obvious a name, what with the star shape on his forehead. W/E not one said cheagles were good with names.]

It's fine, forget it. [Default neutral response, yep. He's not at all bothered by all of this happening again.]
