[As his fingers close around the chain, Asch's lips purse tightly, and he nods, waiting while Luke holds on to his hand. It does feel different. The link, the fonons between them, the solidity of Luke's body- there's something off.

It's time.]

...It'll be here when you get back.

[He shuts his eyes with a smile, and he gives Asch's hand a gentle squeeze.]

... Thanks.

[And then he lets go, and Luke feels like a piece of himself just went with Asch. He's worn that pendant, that promise, so much that it feels like it's almost a part of him now.]

Do you... want to go have some tea together? [One last time for the road?]

[Asch stares in Luke's direction for a long moment, his expression vacant and unreadable, before he lifts his hands to latch the necklace up around his neck so that it rests with the one he's already wearing, silver and gold nesting neatly against one another. He turns away, then, heading for the door.]

Just come inside, Arietta's not home.

[Grune had been very happy to get Asch's name as her new partner for Project Hydra Social. She's always wanted to get to know him better, and now's her chance. The idea of writing letters back and forth with him appeals greatly to her, and so she's sure to do her best to make her first letter as nice and pretty as she can.

Unfortunately, either she hasn't found out or she's forgotten that Asch is currently blind.

...So, well. Have a piece of paper slipped under your door, Asch. If you could read it, this is what it would say:]

Hello Asch!

Oswald said that we're letter-writing partners now. Isn't that nice?

I'm glad to have the chance to write to you. I'm looking forward to becoming closer and closer every day. ♥

We should have tea again sometime soon! There aren't any strawberries anymore in my garden, but there are still a few raspberries left if you'd like them instead. They taste very good.

What's the name of your world? Mine is Melfes, and I live on the Legacy. It's a very nice place full of lots of cheerful people. I hope that someday you can visit it!

Oh dear.]

[It takes a day or two to respond, with the second letter being a small, neatly folded page delivered to Grune's home by an orange cheagle. The note itself is written in neat script, almost professional, and it all seems very official- except for the fact that the corners are a bit crumpled and there are crayon doodles of birds, gears, and airplanes on the back. Turns out a little pilot got ahold of the letter before it was delivered.]

Before anything else is said, you need to know that I can't see. This letter is being dictated.

I don't know what that st ~~bas~~ unpleasant rabbit is planning, but I never signed up for his penpal system, nor am I interested in making random friends. If for whatever reason you feel the need to talk to me, I'd accept a visit. Tea was alright.

I've heard of Melfes; Stella spoke of it sometimes. The world I come from is Auldrant, and I was raised on a religious island known as Daath. I'd return the sentiment about visiting it, but I'd be lying. Daath is a miserable place these days.

That's all I have to say.

[Grune, of course, is delighted to receive Asch's letter, especially since it's so pretty. Some of what he says is confusing and a little sad, so she begins writing him another letter right away to cheer him up. She gets about a third of the way through before she remembers that he won't be able to read it.

This is a problem, until she rereads his letter and sees the part where he says he would "accept" a visit.

Congratulations, Asch. You have just earned yourself a weekly visitor in the form of Grune.]

[He's quiet for the rest, brows furrowing. He doesn't get the name one or the blond thing, though.]

That makes no sense. Is there a problem with "Luke"? It's not a bad name.

I guess it's sort of common in the west? [ He shrugs a little to himself. ] But yeah, it isn't a bad name. Sounds a lot better than mine, either way, so I don't know what the person who wrote this card is talking about.

Maybe they're just full of nonsense. [Besides the blind part, that much is a given.] Thanks for your help.

[ ... hm. figures he should mention-- ]

[Great, it's an amnesia epidemic. Or... something. He hasn't met anyone besides her yet, so who knows. He glances down at the paper in his hands, then offers it out to her.]

I found this when I woke up. Is it important?

...I didn't know there was more than that.

[Why'd he stop at the end, then?]

[ She looks at the paper. ]

Oh, that's like mine. [ She tentatively takes it and starts reading. ] It says you're Luke, so I think that makes you my servant.

[ And she continues to read, but it's slow going. Mostly she's looking for her own name to verify what's written on hers. ]

Well, the last one was a little less pleasant, I guess. [ 'i guess', natsuno, really..? ]

It says: '4. Watch your heart, you've got a condition. We wouldn't want you to die again, would we?'

I'm Luke?

[Wait, hold on-]

Your servant? Don't you think it's strange, employing a blind man as your servant?

[Doesn't seem all that smart. She sounds kind of young, though, so maybe that's why.]

[Wow. That seems kind of important, bro. 8| Asch frowns, though. 'Again'? What the hell?]

That sounds morbid. And nonsensical, while I'm at it. How does someone die more than once?

[ Normally Natsuno would have a really good answer to this. Normally.

As he is right now, with amnesia and all, he doesn't really have any. Unfortunately. ]

Don't ask me, ask the person who wrote this card. Maybe you're some sort of zombie or vampire. [ it's more meant as a joke, honestly.. ]

You're blind? [ It would be easier to notice the signs if she could remember what being blind might look like... ]

[A what or what?]

I don't know what those are.

I can only assume, considering I can't see.

[Damn unfortunate, that.]

I guess. [ There's a short pause as she reads some more, then, ] Oh! It says you're blind on this.

... What if you're my servant anyway?

.. You don't? Those are just from horror movies, right? Everyone knows about them.

I don't. I've never heard of them.

[He's not sure if that's a lack of memories or if he never knew to begin with, but the names aren't ringing any bells.]
