[Voice / backdated to May 11th]
[It had taken a few days for him to notice a certain housemate's disappearance - the man had been kidnapped, after all, and Asch didn't make a habit of nosing around in his room. It had been instinct more than anything that had made him poke his head in to check Van's room this morning.
The room had been empty. It's a familiar feeling, standing there in a room that used to hold someone important. Not necessarily treasured or even missed, this time, but undeniably important. And there's a fleeting thought, one he has to bury with the rest of the ideas that he doesn't share with people: how long until he's alone again?
...Yep, not sharing that one. He does close the door behind himself, though, sit down on the bed, and open his journal.]
Van Grants has gone home.

Then he must be pretty amazing if you learned how to fight from him, because you're really good.

[Complimenting Van leaves kind of a bad taste in his mouth, but it's no empty comment, either. Van is good. Dangerously so.]

Hey, um, Asch... this may sound kind of strange, but would you... would you mind teaching me how to fight? I asked Yuri to help me when he was still here, but...

You- why would you ask me?
[Aren't there like a hundred nicer people who could teach him?]

I... guess. I thought you already knew how to fight, though.
[Or is it just Ratatosk? Come to think of it, he hasn't seen the little bastard show himself in ages.]

[No, he hasn't forgiven the little bastard for all those verbal spats and spars of the past.]

[If he can accept that he and Luke are two separate people, finally, he's not about to agree that Emil's in the same boat. Actions, personality, behaviour- that's what individuality is. Nothing can convince him otherwise.]

[He's... surprised to hear that, a bit, but more importantly touched. Though he may not say it, it means a lot to him when people acknowledge him as Emil rather than just as part of Ratatosk, because that's what he wants so much to believe for himself.]

Anyway, if you really want lessons, we can... work something out. But don't expect much to come of it. I'm not a real teacher.
