[Asch will be leaving a single message on the journal network on the evening of the first day, his voice flat:]

I know that the village is being its usual mad self this week, but Guy Cecil's gone back to his world. With the recent departures, Good Spirits is shorthanded.

[....oh, right.]

Also, considering the bar is in the area where alcohol is apparently prohibited, thieves have been after the stores. Most of the remaining supply's been hidden, but I could use help guarding it.

As far as I know, the journal network has always been for our eyes only, so if you want any for yourself and the staff doesn't recognize you, try to come up with something only one of us would know.

[After that, he won't be doing much exploration. Asch is having none of this silly experiment business; he woke up wearing this, and since his closet seems to be full of clothes either like it or much worse, he just rolls with it. He's been around the block before. He'll be staying in the bar pretty much 24/7 (besides food runs and emergencies) to make sure the collection doesn't get completely depleted; he may be a recently returned staff member himself, now, but the bar was important to Guy, so he can at least protect it for a while. Alcoholic drinks will be served through the back door to villagers only, so if you want some booze, better figure out a way to act convincing.]

I appreciate it. I know that alcohol just shows up automatically, but there are some rare bottles here I'd rather not see disappear.

Yeah, I hear you. I'm coming down to the square with my sister anyway-- I'll come by once she's at work.

[dissonates]

[Browlift. Her sister's here now?

Well, whatever, it's none of his business. He nods, shrugging it off; he'll be around whenever she gets here.]

[mikangirl]

[She'll turn up within the hour dressed in an elegant black dress and some fairy floss a pink fur stole, because it seems everyone's in fancy dress today. And a grumpy expression, but that's par for the course these days.]

[dissonates]

[Luceti's full of cranky people these days, it's nothing new. When she arrives, he's behind the bar counter, standing by the entrance to the back room with his sword drawn, held vertically against the floor in front of him. He tenses at the door opening, then settles back when he recognizes her.]

Anyone following you?

[mikangirl]

Nope. [She looks a little taken aback at the none-shall-pass pose, but given her staff is already out and tapping against one shoulder-- well, not like there's much room to talk.] Wow, how bad has it been?

[dissonates]

...It's just a precaution. [He's well aware of how it looks, but better safe than sorry (and liquor-less).] There's been a few scuffles, but nothing serious yet.

[mikangirl]

If it makes easier I can hide the stock in plain sight. Won't stop them trying, I guess, but they won't be able to take any, either.

[dissonates]

"Hide in plain sight"? What does that even mean?

[mikangirl]

It's a trick I have. Here, easiest way to explain-- [She spins the staff over end once, then sweeps it out-- and vanishes from view, though she can still be heard.] It's like a bending of the light, I guess.

[dissonates]

[...Whoa, that was unexpected. Asch leans back in surprise, brows lifting.]

That looks like more than a light trick.

[mikangirl]

Technically it is. It's a mirage. [She takes a few seconds to sort of ripple back into view, the image of her a little distorted.] I can do the same thing to the alcohol supply. Or sections of it, anyway. But you said you had some rare bottles you didn't want to lose?

[dissonates]

Right. They're in the back, here.

[Asch blinks away any lingering surprise and leads the way into the storage room, unlocking one of the lower cupboards and revealing a set of fancy-labeled bottles.]

There's a lot of alcohol in the bar that is commonplace- almost every world seems to have them. These are different; as far as I could tell, these are all the rare, world-specific liquors we have in stock right now. They'd be the biggest loss if someone raided the place.

[mikangirl]

Then let's make sure nobody can take them. [She'd hate to lose the Romulan Ale. 8| Nami crouches down to look at the bottles and then taps one finger to the interior wall of the cupboard.] You want to move them first or should I just vanish them where they are?

[dissonates]

How long will the illusion last?

[Depending on the permanence of it, there might not even be a need to move them.]

[mikangirl]

As long as I'm on the premises it'll be stable. If I'm not here to maintain it, it'll run the risk of getting disrupted by atmospheric change. Like the door opening one too many times to let in the cold air, or too many warm bodies inside-- that kind of thing.

I'll be here a while, though. Provided I get to have a drink. [She grins cheerfully.]

[dissonates]

Someone can guard it while you're gone. Like I said, it's a precaution. This is just more convenient. [He shrugs, lifting a brow at her request.] What do you want?

[mikangirl]

Convenience is a great thing.

...I'll have a vodka today. Vodka and orange. [She sits on the edge of a table closest to the cupboard-- or in absence of tables, any nice flat surface will do. She's not picky.] Vanish 'em?

[dissonates]

After I'm finished, fine.

[Asch does a quick mix of the ingredients requested, garnishing it and sliding it her way.]

It's been surprisingly quiet, though. I expected a raid hours ago.

[mikangirl]

[Nami catches her drink and scoops it up, taking a sip before replying blandly.] Who knows. Maybe they heard on the grapevine that this place is being watched by the town's crankiest redheads.

[dissonates]

[Asch snorts quietly at that, but can't bring himself to disagree. Not that she's ever struck him as cranky, but- well, alright, he's not the most chipper person in the world, fine...]

[mikangirl]

[That gets a faint snort in reply, and Nami just tosses half the drink back, before picking up her staff again. And wonders just briefly if she should say something about Guy.

...nope.]

Nothing wrong with being cranky, mind.

[dissonates]

[He lifts a brow at that, looking less annoyed and more bemused this time. Nothing wrong with it?]

I can think of a lot of people who'd disagree with that.

[mikangirl]

A lot of people are wrong. [She blows her bangs out of her face.] Especially if you've got legitimate things to be cranky over.

[dissonates]

[Oh my god, someone who thinks the way he does. It's a miracle. She gets a briefly surprised look, then an agreeable nod.]

It would be convenient if more people thought that way.
