[After getting violently ejected from his own house, Asch has set up temporary shop in Good Spirits until he figures out where to go (and whether or not to try and evict Guy and get his house back). Since Guy apparently hit his head and can't even remember working there, Asch is hoping that the bar will be the last place he'll have to worry about running into Guy again. And it's not like dealing with the shop is particularly hard; all you have to do is pour drinks and listen to people's griping, and what good is a replica if he can't do that in Asch's place? ...The listening part, anyway. Floating glasses of alcohol might give people the wrong idea.

So in short, Asch will be doing two things today: shopping and carrying groceries back to the bar to stock up, or hanging out in the bar and trying not to attempt to murder his invisible companion. Stupid drecks and their attempts at impressing him. He's not really used to being around a lot of people, so he easily forgets that he's the only one who can see Luke. Thus:]

I already told you to keep your feet on the ground. You could at least pretend to be normal.

[Ratatosk's first instinct is to back away from the spirit, suspicious more because it's Luke than because of what he is.]

[An eyebrow goes up at that.] I think it's anyone's territory, but if it's not something you'd enjoy that's a different story.

Don't bother, he won't listen if you try to avoid it. [Asch scowls from the bar, sounding like he speaks from experience. Luke just smiles innocently and tries again.]

...My humblest apologies. [Sincerity? There is none. However--] Selfish, yes, but don't think I'm not doing you a favor here as well, boy! I want to know more about isofons and your incredible connection to the seventh fonon, and I assume you want to live, correct? The sooner you agree to it, the sooner we can be rid of eachother for good.

Besides-- [She takes a sips of her drink and narrows her eyes at Asch.] --without my machines here, there's little I can do other than a meager physical examination. Blood work, heart rate, things of that nature. Basic, but all I can do at present.

If I want a checkup I'll see a doctor. There's a real one at the clinic these days, I've heard. Why would I bother taking your offer?

I know more about human physiology than any of those half-witted imbeciles! My research in replication more or less called for me to have a heightened knowledge of the human body. And though it's not necessarily a medical title, I am a doctor, you fool!! [She huffs, crossing her arms rather childishly over her chest.]

You should take my offer because you may not have another chance to truly understand what's wrong with you, Asch. And I don't care for stubborn children like yourself. I may not offer my esteemed talents again, you know!

I've already told you before - twice - my body is healthy. There's nothing wrong with me, so I don't need your help! Just shut up about it already!

[This time Ratatosk will hold still, though his muscles are tense, clearly not happy about this entire situation.]

[SIGH. Dist rubs her temple and looks down at her notes.] "Specimen shows extreme loss of intellect and unwillingness to comply to basic medical tests. Also acts ignorant to body conditions in regards to replication".

Thank you for the drink, it was wonderful. [She sighs, gathers her things, and stands up.] Let Guy know I was here. Also, when you're willing to accept my aid, or on the verge of death, I ask that you seek me out. I have no time to argue these matters with one so utterly thick-skulled!

[..actually, she's beginning to wonder if she's asking these questions of the wrong Asch. So to speak.]

[Thankfully this Asch is almost the same as his counterpart, so his answers ought to hold up, aside from... well, okay, not much.]

[Good man, Ratty. Luke presses his ghostly hands lightly over Ratatosk's, spreading a soft feeling of calm though him, if he allows it. With that touch comes a quiet explanation- of their connected fonons, of Asch's death and revival, and of Luke's state of being. Hopefully Ratatosk will find that explanation to be reasonably understandable.

In the midst of it all there's a quiet curiosity he can't quell- about a young blond-haired boy whose eyes sometimes change to red.

Asch watches from the counter, brow lifting as Luke looks up and smiles again.]
