[There isn't a lot that makes Asch wake so suddenly in the middle of the night, feeling sweaty and shaken. He's been having some difficulty sleeping the last couple of nights, but this is the first time it's actually woken him up. It's disturbed him enough to kill his desire to sleep, so rather than bother trying, he rolls over beneath the covers and stares at the wall for a while, mulling over the dream. Just what does it all mean? He knows he's not the only one going through all this.
What bothers him most though... is why did it feel like some of the dreams he'd had weren't even his?]

It's tempting to just go ahead and try to escape entirely, but she'd probably just worry about him. After a moment's hesitation he steps closer, quietly clearing his throat.]
Mother?

Hey. Do you want something to drink?

...We're not adopted, are we?

No, you aren't. Neither is Luke. [She goes to the faucet, pours him a cup of tap water and holds it out to him.] You don't look good. Drink.

I had a dream earlier- about a red-haired woman I called "Mother". She was sick a lot, and couldn't get out of bed, but she loved me like a son. [He pauses.] It wasn't you.

Do you know if you loved her? Did you feel anything?

[Being the momma's boy that he is. It feels weird, though, feeling that way for someone else. He can't seem to make sense of it.]

Maybe you want me to grow out my hair a bit more? I don't think I can really make it anymore red though without dye. Your dad gave you and Luke the genes for that coloration. Whatever it is I never met anyone like that before.

Maybe I just wish I'd been an only child.

You really should get along. I don't understand why you two always feel the need to argue, but when you need each other you're closer than ever. My brothers never acted that way with each other. [She sighs.] Well, they aren't close to being twins like you two.

[Sheesh... how did Luke end up so affectionate? Anyway it's the job of the elder brother to shove the younger siblings around.]

I don't have a particularly good reason for it. It's just how we are- we're siblings, so we fight. We have different priorities.
no subject
I know that. But, you two fight more than looking out for one another. You know I worry about both of you and want your happiness.
