[It's early afternoon. The journal flies open and turns on abruptly in mid-air, a blast of resonating energy having blown it away from where it had been placed. As it flies, a few flashes of red, white, and black are visible, and when it lands, Asch and Luke are in the distance, swords clashing, the rec center just beyond where they're fighting. Occasionally they'll exchange commentary, but none of it seems to filter in.
The resonating noise continues, though, and as their swords clash one more time, it seems to grow even louder than before, until finally one shout rings clear-]
Pull back you dre-
[And before he can even finish, an explosion of light flares between them, and two identical cries of alarm are the only sound that filters through that eerie resonance. The light spreads, flaring outwards and sending the journal flying backwards, cutting off the feed.
The light is probably visible to most of the village as a single beam of light flying up towards the barrier and disappearing from sight. And there is a nice big crater in the forest just south of the rec center, where pretty much anything in that location - trees, bushes, grass, whatever - has... pretty much been decimated. A journal bearing Asch's name on the cover is sitting in the grass just outside of the crater, looking pretty ripped up and charred. The scene overall probably looks pretty dooming, especially since neither of the redheads are anywhere to be found.
[ooc: most responses will come from Luke, though Asch will chime in as well when he can!]

Damn... He should've known something like that would happen. There's always a chance of it happening when two seventh fonists clash together - he'd just been lucky all the other times he'd fought Asch or even Van. It figures that it happened now of all times... Hopefully no one saw that light.
The thought makes him look down where his journal is kept, then let out another quiet groan of realization. Both of the journals he carried on him were probably completely soaked...]
[Action]
Just hold on like this and keep your head above the water. Do you have your journal on you? Check if the village is still there or not.
[Which is probably alarming to hear, but Luke knows all too well the destructive power of hyperresonance. It would be nothing new if they'd left nothing but a gaping hole where the entire village used to be.]
[Action]
Luke brings his leg up as much as he can in this position, unbuttons and opens up one of the deeper pockets, and pulls his journal through the water to inspect it in the air. Yes, it's thoroughly wet, but upon opening it, Luke finds out that it works. If the frantic yelling of their names says anything, anyway, and he has to wince a little from all of that noise.]
Looks okay- [He's down to clearing his throat now, though his voice sounds rough and quiet.] to me.
[Action]
Will you tell them we're fine so they stop yelling?
[Action]
Once he's done with one, though, there's a SHRIEK from Xion, which makes Luke just about toss the journal in surprise and let it land in the water beside them. He stares for a second, then curses, coughs, reaches out and grabs the journal to respond to her. Yeah, sorry about that scream, Asch.]
[Action]
[That was probably loud enough for people to hear, but whatever, they can deal with it.
Geez, are they really going to have to swim all the way to the shore like this? What a pain...]
[Action]
[Uuugh. What a pain...
And indeed, this pretty much goes on until they reach the shore. Once Luke can get to the point of walking up to drier land, he shuts the journal regardless of who he's talking to, drops it to the sand, and just falls onto his stomach. Finally. Land. Man, and he promised to take Xion here sometime soon...]
[Action]
Not that he's paying any attention at all to Luke. As soon as they're on shore he rolls over, his arm lifting to shield his eyes from the sun as he tries to catch his breath. Damn but was that ever bad luck.]
[Action]
Luke tries to catch his breath too, though he has to shut his mouth, swallow and lightly clear his throat to try and get that parched feeling out of his throat. They do have to get up some time... but Luke would rather just lay here for a while. Nice sand. Nice land.]
[Action]
Once he feels like he has enough air to breathe properly, Asch pushes himself upright, brushing sand out of his hair and clearing his throat of some of the saltwater that had splashed in. He glances sidelong at Luke after a moment.]
Are you still alive?
[Action]
I'm... I'm okay. [He doesn't want to look too weak in front of Asch, after all.]
[Action]
Dammit... I dropped my sword out there.
[LUKE WHY DON'T YOU KNOW HOW TO SWIM ugh what a pain.]
[Action]
Mine's gone, too.
[Slowly, he starts to straighten out, though he lets out a hiss once he gets to his knees.]
[Action]
...We need to get back.
[Action]
How? Walking? [Luke would rather camp out for the night or something to recover, even knowing he fails at it. Not to mention he's never really been to the ocean before, so he doesn't actually know which way the village is.]
[Action]
[Action]
He looks at the fort when Asch gestures to it, blinks, then looks at him to ask something that's probably common knowledge before he even realizes it:] Really? When'd we get a teleporter to the ocean?
[Action]
Pursing his lips, he pushes slightly against the ground to test his strength, then halts as he feels his muscles protest. Not yet, then. Instead he reaches out to retrieve Luke's journal, flipping through it.]
Sounds like we didn't kill anyone with that hyperresonance. Good.
[Probably using too casual a tone there, but oh well.]
[Action]
[It figures that Asch wasn't ready to stand yet - he did all of the work. Luke would flop back down beside him if he felt like working to stand up again, and with everything aching so much, he's not really looking forward to that.
Once Asch says that last part, though, Luke takes a step back in shock, only to grimace. It helps with what he protests, though.]
Don't say it like that! If we killed anyone, we...
[Action]
You can waste your life away with thoughts like that.]
[Action]
And now he's tired of standing, so he'll fall heavily to his knees, take a moment to wince and bear the pain, then look up at Asch.]
Thanks.
[Action]
[He doesn't care much for most of the residents in the village, but... there are a few people whose death would make him pretty upset.]
[Action]
Y-Yeah... That wasn't really what I meant though. Thanks... for saving me.
[Action]
Ha. Imagine the sort of threats I'd be getting if I had let you drown.
[Action]
He looks away, and he's quiet for a second before he slowly straightens up again, speaking in a strained voice as he does so.]
I'll go check the teleporter, okay?
