[Luke isn't quite as worried as Natalia when he heard, but it's still enough to make him drop what he's doing and head to the clinic. Once he reaches the room, he peeks in first before he takes a couple of steps inside, leaving the door open behind him. Yes, he wants to be there. But does Asch want him there?]

Asch...

I- [And that makes Asch falter, hands clenching and unclenching at his sides. Why... why does he have to question it!? Why does he have to ask!? It's his name, it's always belonged to him, it was stolen, so why...

...why is he asking for it now...?

Isn't it his right? Isn't this what he's always wanted? The life he could never have lived after his kidnapping... isn't that what he's after now?

Why didn't he take it when Luke offered before?]

...I... couldn't say it before. I couldn't ask. Everything was too different... there's no going back. I couldn't move forward if I kept focusing on the past all the time...

[Though that's what he ended up doing anyway. Maybe that's why it was always so painful.]

[Asch is in the middle of dozing, but at her voice, quiet as it is, he opens his eyes, glancing over at the door. He sounds about as good as he looks (which isn't great) but he's masking the pain as much as possible. He's trained for that, after all.]

Then why are you focusing on the past now? What happened to make you feel like this?

... Was it those things in our journals?

[It's the only thing Luke can think of. It's why he acted weird, so now... maybe...

Why was Luke so reluctant, anyway? It wasn't just because of the fact that Asch might kill him for it later, not just because he wants to keep his name. For once... he's actually thinking of what he wants rather than what Asch once. This... rarely ever happens with him. And he's so torn about what to do that he can't help clenching his fists to hide the tremors.]

[Asch keeps his eyes closed as Luke enters; he doesn't need to open them to see Luke there. He expected his replica- their link was enough of a warning to let Asch know that he was coming.]

...Don't be giving me any pathetic looks, replica.

What does it look like? I'm injured.

[Luke doesn't answer to that. Instead, he slowly and quietly shuts the door behind him, then lowers his head. Well, if Asch doesn't want Luke to give him pathetic looks... Maybe he'll give one to the floor instead.]

I... I've been learning some magic here. Not with fonons, that stuff's too complicated... But Filial magic. Do you want me to try healing you a little? I don't think I can do anything big, but... maybe it'll help some.

[Asch hesitates at that; he doesn't feel like sharing the truth with Luke right now- really, not ever, since that would involve a demand for investigation at best and a more expansive explanation at worst. So... how to get around this, exactly...?]

The clinic employs healers and doctors more skilled than you, and they've done all they can. I don't need it.

[Asch pauses, lips pursing, and reluctantly takes a step back, away from Luke, to tug his journal from a pocket and flip it open. It can't possibly be that simple, can it? Just a simple little line in the-

[...why does he feel so... disappointed?]

[She was hoping for a little more of an explanation, but, oh well. Most people are more than willing to complain about what's wrong with them, how it happened, who they want to exact revenge upon... It's kind of refreshing, in a way, that Asch is not.]

I'm here to heal you, if I may. At least, as much as I can.

[You seem to be really popular, Mr. Asch. Ginji will be poking his head in a little later, tapping the side of the door to let Asch know he's got another visitor. Poor guy.]

[Asch and injuries seem to go together, and though it's always worrying, it's also a familiar occurrence.]

[Unfortunately Ginji's worries and moods are winning out against his usually passive nature, that and this nagging voice in the back of his head keeps telling him he just can't let Asch go through with it. Not only is there a risk to himself, but Asch might get hurt too - that's even worse.]

[That does it. How does Asch know he's not being manipulated if he doesn't remember? Ginji's voice is low and quiet:]

[Asch glances off to the side at that, trying his best to conceal his discomfort.]

[Good grief, what is with all these visitors? Did the replica hyperresonate a sign in the clouds or something?]

[Why... is Ginji being so pushy...

Asch is having trouble wrapping his head around it, truth be told, which is why he's not just stomping off to cut his hair elsewhere or telling Ginji to leave him alone. What a pain in the ass, though... hrngh.]

What are you so worried about? More importantly, why do you care?

All right. [Surprising, but he sounds sincere and she doesn't want to push him. Not yet, anyway.] As long as you are sure. Is there anything you need? [if he's in pain, or thirsty, or bored, she can at least address that.]

[...Okay, she's disturbingly tolerant of his attitude. He's not used to this. She gets a surprised blink for that one.]

In your condition, it's quite difficult not to be calm. You look terrible.

[Asch is neither the biggest nor the worst attitude Mia's met in life. Or even in the past year.]

[Her expression falls the instant Miyabi sees Asch in the state he was in. Her lips purse together into a thin line, but she enters regardless. He already saw her, so she might as well go in to greet her.

Of course, upon taking a seat on the edge of his bed, words escape her. Her throat feels so tight right now, if hurts... Just what happened down there? This time?]

[Damn, good thing she didn't see him when he first arrived, then.]

It was a cave-in. I survived, though- that's what matters, you know that.

[He hates seeing Natalia like that. Dammit, how could he have been so stupid as to get caught in something like that? Ugh, now it's causing him nothing but grief.]

[...So weird. He watches her go, then shrugs it off and goes back to relaxing on the bed, waiting for her return.]

No, I was just resting my eyes. [Close enough. He focuses briefly on her expression, then quietly looks away. He hates it when people look at him like that.] Don't start worrying about me.

I need a body that heals faster, that would be useful. [Mumble, grumble. Stupid dissonance.] I'm already tired of this place.
