...My scissors? You're stealing my scissors?

[Of all the petty, inconsequential, stupid--]

[Since when is asking the same as stealing? Even if he'd managed to take them earlier, Ginji had every intention of giving them back. Not like scissors are hard to come by.]

...What?! No! I just don't think you should cut your hair, that's all.

[Mumbling.] I've got a bad feeling about it...

Bad feeling? It's just hair, Ginji. [What is up with people making such a big deal out of it? Hair is hair! It'll grow! No one kicked up a storm when the replica did it.

But with Ginji looking so concerned, it's planting a niggling seed of doubt. Maybe there's something more to it than just a haircut...?]

[Ginji blinks once. It seems Asch has finally remembered his name.] You're right, but...not exactly.

Will you please hear me out? [He doesn't wait for permission, just keeps on talking.] I think there might be something bigger going on. I mean, just yesterday this boy was being chased around the village by ducks, Noelle caught a bout of hiccups that still hasn't subsided, and Nephry was dropping pearls.

And then there's the apartment... [He casts his eyes to the side and sighs deeply. Don't get him started on the apartment.]

[What the hell. That's some week you've been having, Ginji.

Not that he can talk...]

If you think I'm being manipulated, think again. This isn't just some whim!

You're always thinking about and planning things, Mr. Asch...

[Ginji still looks doubtful, and his tone is getting careless again. He's talking in circles and his patience (for once in his life) is wearing thin.] But this isn't a very comfortable setting for what you had in mind. Actually, it's one of the worst places you could have chosen.

And there might not even be any way around all these strange happenings. So if you're not acting on a whim, how long have you spent considering it?

[And suddenly Ginji is contemplating the unthinkable, because when has Asch ever backed down about anything?]

[Ginji's logic is, surprisingly, starting to break through a little, which is puzzling to Asch, to say the least. Ginji doesn't argue. Ginji doesn't start fights. Ginji... Ginji pilots. Hell, the only time he can remember Ginji really putting up a fight before is insisting on taking Asch to Eldrant, since he himself couldn't pilot the Albiore.

So why is he so determined to argue now...?]

I... I can't remember! What does it matter, anyway? It's my hair.

I'm sorry, but it matters, even if you don't think so right now.

[Unfortunately Ginji's worries and moods are winning out against his usually passive nature, that and this nagging voice in the back of his head keeps telling him he just can't let Asch go through with it. Not only is there a risk to himself, but Asch might get hurt too - that's even worse.]

[That does it. How does Asch know he's not being manipulated if he doesn't remember? Ginji's voice is low and quiet:]

Give me the scissors.

[Why... is Ginji being so pushy...

Asch is having trouble wrapping his head around it, truth be told, which is why he's not just stomping off to cut his hair elsewhere or telling Ginji to leave him alone. What a pain in the ass, though... hrngh.]

What are you so worried about? More importantly, why do you care?

Why wouldn't I care? [Well, actually Asch's hair is not so much the issue, but you don't go flying a guy around for months and then just forget about it and not care. Actually, Ginji owes Asch a lot.]

All of the other readings are coming true in one way or another, Mr. Asch! I'm not sure what it all means, but there was one that mentioned you specifically. So you see, I can't just stand around and let something happen...

You can get angry with me if you want to, but I'm not leaving.

[...He's really not giving up, is he? Dammit... why the hell does he have to be so stubborn all of a sudden?

If the remnants of the first day wasn't making him so lazy, he might've just considered clocking Ginji and having done with it. But no- that would just be a waste. Reluctantly, oh so reluctantly, he offers the scissors out to Ginji, glowering angrily at him.]

Will you really just be satisfied with this?

[Oh, but suppose whatever-it-is has nothing to do with the haircut at all? And what if Asch just goes off and finds himself another pair of scissors? And what if--]

[Nevertheless, Ginji will reach out and latch onto the other end of the scissors before Asch changes his mind completely. He is not letting go of them, but he does manage to sound apologetic.]

W-well, I just told you I didn't plan on leaving, Mr. Asch. If I walked off now, I'd be a liar....

You can't just follow me around all day!

[...He can't, right? Right?]

Don't worry, I won't slow you down.

[He may not look it, but he can keep up no problem! Especially now that his arm's all better! ...Maybe. Maybe not if Asch makes a hasty retreat.]

[Actually he'd like to say "I'll stay out of your way" which normally he'd try to do anyhow, but Ginji is pretty sure insisting that Asch hand over his scissors counts as getting in his way...]

[.....

Ugh. It is way too much work to argue with him right now, so whatever.]

Fine, but don't get in my way, either.

[And off he's marching. To...

...well, probably to find a good spot to curl up and have another nap, because hell if all this hasn't made him exhausted.]

[Ginji nods weakly.] I'll try not to...

[He'll be tucking the scissors into a coat pocket (out of sight, out of mind) and following Asch at a relatively safe and "out of the way" distance. Looking around, keeping quiet, wondering where they're even going. It's not terribly exciting, comparatively, but at least he'll be around to call for help if something unexpected happens to Asch.]
