[This week Asch had debated whether or not to deal with the ridiculousness of what happened at the hotel, but in the end went with his usual method of ignoring things until they died (or at least left him alone). Thus, he won't be speaking to anyone he tried to wed last weekend for as long as humanly possible. (Unless they bully him. Or they are Luke. Because he can't escape Luke.)

He's also slacked off a lot in his responsibilities at the bar this week, in part due to excessive sharing with a certain vampire slayer (more than he's used to, anyway) but mostly because he's had very good reason to hang around at the bakery instead. Reason being a particularly long-haired young lady.

And said young lady is the purpose of his journal usage today.]

Hey, I've got a question for Rapunzel's friends. Her birthday is coming up, and she's had lanterns in the sky every year on that day. It's easy to tell that she's upset about it not happening here, too.

Is this something we can change? Does anyone know how to make paper lanterns? I've never done it before, but I can't just let it go like this. We'd need a lot of them.

And he'll continue to be a bit of a sap when it comes to Rapunzel until the whole experiment inevitably wears off by the end of the day, which is good because by then people are probably going to be very very sick of him. |D]

Oh... hey! [He recognizes him - they've talked a few times in the past.] You know about the lanterns too? That's great! I was meaning to announce this, but I guess things've been pretty hectic after all that... w-weird stuff the other week.

But... the thing is, I've been making plans with my granddaughter - I told you about her, right? Ikki? Basically, we're going to try to get together the art club and everyone in the village, even if they don't know her yet, to each make a lantern for her. And on her birthday, it'll be super big surprise! What do you think of that?

[Why does he feel so down about not thinking of it first? UGH he's such a bad- whatever he is to her. "Boyfriend" is such a weird term for him to consider, so... yeah, no.]

Yeah, she told me about it a long time ago when we were hanging out. We said we'd do it on her half-birthday... but that musta passed along time ago. We must have both forgot. Or - or only I did. [He frowns a little, guiltily.] That's why I wanna make sure it goes as best as it can for her actual birthday!

Of course you're welcome to help! Everyone is with at last one lantern, 'cuz I wanna make sure she knows everyone cares about her. You can make it yourself and bring it on her birthday, or if you wanna have fun, you can join as at the art club on the first Sunday of the month. We'll all be making our own lanterns there without Rapunzel knowing!

Wouldn't it be more productive to just give everyone instructions and have them make them on their own time? Especially with only a week left to put them together.

I guess we could put some instructions in the journal just in case. But it shouldn't take too long if we get a good amount of people and everyone makes at least one. Plus, then the people who're better at it can help the others who are having trouble. It'll all work out!

How many people are in the art club? Rapunzel said the sky was filled with lanterns. You'd need a lot to create that effect.

I think we have almost thirty members. It could be more, and Ikki's got a better idea 'cuz she kinda invites almost everyone she meets to the club. But it won't just be us in the club making the lanterns, of course. Everyone's going to ask their friends, and we're gonna try to ask everyone in the village we can find to help out. I really wanna make sure they fill the sky, too.
