[Asch fidgets, suddenly wary under the scrutiny.]

Wh-what? Why are you staring at me like that...?

Sorry... it's nothing.

[Asch blushes again, propping his head up on the arm of the couch and looking away.]

F... fine, whatever.

I don't really remember being ten. So I guess it's just interesting to see what I looked like.

[Asch blinks, flustered for a moment before he regains his composure.]

W-well... er... I guess you can look. But don't stare or anything, it's creepy.

[Asch fidgets a little more, eyes averted, then quietly changes the subject.]

H... how are Mother and Father? Are they safe and healthy in the future? And... do they know about me...?

Well, they are both safe... but mother has never really been healthy since you were kidnapped. She gets sick a lot.

And they do know about you, at least in my time they do.

[Asch bows his head, trembling a little, trying not to look scared. Seven years without seeing his parents? Seven years alone in Daath, with only Van for company?

I-I'm glad they're alive.

She's okay... father and everyone else takes really good care of her. And seeing you always lifts her spirits.

[Asch tentatively lifts his head, a glimmer of hope entering his gaze.]

I get to see her sometimes? They let me visit, even though I... I'm not their son anymore...?

Yeah... you don't really... like to visit often. But mother and father still believe you're their son. They're always happy when you return to the manor.

I don't? Why? I really want to go home! I can't imagine not wanting to see them... e-even if Father doesn't... want me there.

Well... I think you don't feel like the manor is your home anymore in my time. You spent so long away from there, you feel uncomfortable.

And you know, Luke, father does want you there. He may be distant, but he really does care about us.

I... I guess that makes sense. [Asch looks down again, hesitating a moment, then slowly leans over to rest against Luke's shoulder.] I don't see how you can think that about Father... he never approved of anything I did.

There are a lot of reasons why father acts the way he does with us, Luke. But no matter how he may seem on the outside, I do know for a fact that he still loves you and me.

[Asch sighs softly, face nearly hidden in Luke's shirt.]

I want to believe that. I want to believe I- we- matter to him... but... h-he still needs to prove it to me...!

If you come home... then you can give him a chance to prove it to you.

[Asch shudders, and it takes him a moment to return the hug. He never thought it would be possible to do such a thing with the replica, but... he didn't hate him or anything...]

S-seven years is a long time to wait... does he really still want me...?

[Asch clings a little, worrying his lower lip. It's embarrassing, but who else would know?]

[Asch takes it gratefully, concealing a sob.]
