[Have an Asch, curled up in bed, waking up from a nice cozy rest because of something feeling amiss. He's used to having two familiar presences always nearby. Guy isn't around, but he expects that (he's looking for Ciel with Meryl, he'd mentioned it earlier), and has no reason to worry. And ever since his first kidnapping with the Malnosso, Luke has been an ever-existent presence somewhere in his mind, at the back or the fore, depending on the strength of the link at the time. But now-

His eyes widen, and he sits straight up in bed, shoving the covers off and focusing intently for a moment. It's pointless - the connection's been severed.

Luke's gone.]

....dammit... dammit...!

[Time to curl up and try to go back to sleep. Maybe it's some sort of bad dream...]

[Guy doesn't bother correcting Asch, and just rests his cheek atop his head.

Luke was going to come back, back in Auldrant. He'd promised. And if they had to go home...Guy would find a way to bring Asch with him. For all of their sakes.]

[Asch tightens his grip, burying his face in Guy's shirt. What can they do? Luke's disappearance has made him all the more possessive of Guy, but the Malnosso have already demonstrated that it's easy to separate all of them. He'd been sent home, and now it's Luke's turn.

What next? Are they going to lose everything? It is just a matter of time before their little makeshift family is split apart?

Again?]

I don't know what to do.

[Saying something like, "there's nothing we can do," would not only be pointless, it would be kind of insensitive as well. But Guy's not sure if Asch is expecting an answer out of him or not. Instead he just wraps his other arm around Asch and hugs him closer.

Just how unstable their situation in Luceti was became painfully clear with Luke's disappearance. At any time, they could be sent back. And if Asch was sent back...he'd be dead.]

[Asch doesn't really need a response, nor is he looking for one. He just wants to indulge in a little company and comfort, something he takes without fighting so rarely.

He wants his replica back, too, but he's not about to ask Guy for something he can't deliver.]

We'll... [Guy clears his throat, tries again.] We'll get him back. There's a way to do it, we know that already. We just...have to find it.

[Asch isn't about to dare hoping - that's Guy's job.]

They might bring him back without his memories. Like they did with you.

And they might not. [Guy shook his head.] Even if they did, Asch...I mean, look at me. Didn't I start off hating you? If you can turn me around, then Luke -he already cares about you, he wouldn't...say no to getting to know you better.

[He knows that. Of course he knows.

...But still...

He bows his head.]

I guess so.

[Guy purses his lips, rests his chin atop Asch's head again.] ...the only thing we can do is grin and bear it. Or...maybe just bear it. And wait until we can fix things ourselves.

[Asch responds with a slight bark of laughter, which he cuts off because of the choke in his throat attached to it.]

Grin and bear it. Right.

[How was he supposed to live with this emptiness?]
