I need to speak with one of the Malnosso.

[Today, Asch is all over the place. First to the plaza, to check the item bazaar for a few things; next, to the north edge of the village, above the houses, his favourite spot to ~~blow shit up~~ practice his fonic artes; finally, to the opposite edge, sword practice against the targets inside the barracks. He's gotten so restless since Luke's disappearance and he needs to stay on the move to avoid going crazy.

Feel free to bother him at any of those locations or even en route; he could use some socializing.]

[And Jay will enter the barracks and watch Asch's sword practice for a bit. He won't say anything, so he'll stand silently and see how long it takes to get noticed.]

[As soon as Jay walks in, actually; he's not a God-General for nothing. Unless he's getting interrupted, though, he's not stopping his practice. He hasn't finished his drills yet and he's never been one to initiate a conversation, especially when he's busy.]

[A smirk as Jay continues to watch silently. There's no reason to interrupt yet, as he takes the chance to study Asch's moves carefully.]

They'll be stopped soon enough. The trouble will be dealing with the attackers in a place where death doesn't matter.

Yes. No matter what we do, they'll just come back again and again.

There's no law here. It's no wonder the villains of the worlds have free reign.

Even if there were laws, it wouldn't change anything.

[Asch turns away, examining his sword for nicks before sheathing it.]

Laws require enforcement, which require more organization. As things stand, people can do whatever the hell they want with little to no repercussion, and the so-called guilds only get involved when they're available. There's plenty of strong people here, but with how disorganized they are, enemies just cause chaos and drive them further apart, and no one group takes responsibility for dealing with it. It's a mess.

Yes, that's only part of the problem. Once we catch the villains, then what? Whether we lock them up or kill them, it would only be a temporary solution. Once they come back, they'll be free to cause chaos again.

We can't just go around killing them, that's pointless. Locking them up is the only solution that would work.

What, you don't execute people for their crimes in your world?

I suppose whatever we do, we'll have to settle for the temporary solutions.

Of course there's executions. But here it would be pointless- they'd be back in a week, just like you said. And unless we kept killing them to the point where they're either powerless or have too many penalties to even function properly, it's a stupid method of dealing with them.
