[After getting violently ejected from his own house, Asch has set up temporary shop in Good Spirits until he figures out where to go (and whether or not to try and evict Guy and get his house back). Since Guy apparently hit his head and can't even remember working there, Asch is hoping that the bar will be the last place he'll have to worry about running into Guy again. And it's not like dealing with the shop is particularly hard; all you have to do is pour drinks and listen to people's griping, and what good is a replica if he can't do that in Asch's place? ...The listening part, anyway. Floating glasses of alcohol might give people the wrong idea.

So in short, Asch will be doing two things today: shopping and carrying groceries back to the bar to stock up, or hanging out in the bar and trying not to attempt to murder his invisible companion. Stupid drecks and their attempts at impressing him. He's not really used to being around a lot of people, so he easily forgets that he's the only one who can see Luke. Thus:]

I already told you to keep your feet on the ground. You could at least pretend to be normal.

Shut up! Stop doing that, I don't need help.

[...Yeah he's a little crazy in public this week.]

[Asch glances over at him again, then away.] You did it for revenge.

Oh? What revenge would that be?

[Wait, does that mean this Guy isn't out to get revenge?] ...Killing me.

That's the only part of it that I knew. If you planned to kill my father, Van never mentioned it.

[Guy's fingers squeeze his glass as he glares at Asch, obviously bothered now that they're talking about it but unwilling to shut up because of the sheer injustice of the insinuation.]

Are you all right with Auldrant as it is? With a Score that tells parents to kill their children, that tells kings to abandon their people?

[Asch scowls, arms crossing.] And killing everyone and replacing them with mindless replicas is somehow better?

[Guy blinks; you've been breaking his train of thought a lot lately, Asch.]

What are you talking about?

Aren't you following Van? Because that's what he planned to do. Destroying the Score isn't enough for him; he has to destroy all memory of it, too.

[Guy scowls and sets his glass down on the counter.]

That's not true. He wants to abolish the Score and have Malkuth and Kimlasca pay for the Hod Massacre.

And as long as the people of Auldrant are still alive, the Score can never be destroyed. I'm not surprised if he didn't tell you.

That's not true. [Guy slaps his hand atop the counter to accentuate his point.] Van wouldn't lie to me. He told me the truth about what the Score said about Hod, about Malkuth and everything. He wouldn't lie to me, not about this.

Whatever ideas you have in your head about what you think I've done and what you think he's done are wrong.

...You're as blind about Van as I used to be. He's going to betray you too, someday.

[Guy's hands snap out and grab Asch's shirt, shoving him back against the liquor cabinets so hard the bottles inside rattle. He uses his height to his advantage and snarls, leaning over him.]

Shut up. I'm sick of listening to you; pretending to be high and mighty because Van needs you, because you're crucial to what we're trying to do. Whining and crying about how you were replaced so easily, how even your own mother didn't know-

Get over it. Don't you understand? He saved you. And if you don't stop spouting these ridiculous lies about what you think he's going to do, I'll silence you myself.

[Asch grits his teeth to stop himself from crying out at the impact, hands lifting to grab Guy's wrists. Guy's never been violent with him before- not like this, not even close. He tries to push Guy back, eyes narrowing.]

If I had to choose between their world and Van's, I'd rather have died than be his tool. And this isn't even about me! I've seen it all happen!

[Guy shoves him again and the glass cracks.]

You're insane! Talking to yourself, having "headaches-" I knew you were unstable but Van said you were necessary. Then again, after we abolish the Score you won't be necessary and I'll dispose of you.

[He pushes away from Asch and sends him a nasty smile over his shoulder.] Although if we consider your condition I might not even have to.

[He takes the bottle and makes his way to the exit.]

That was beyond anything he'd ever have expected from Guy. Even Luke is struck speechless. This is Guy. This is Guy. He shouldn't be so malicious, so cruel. This is wrong.

But right now, it's the truth. And Asch already hates it. He won't waver, he won't, it doesn't matter how much it's aching, he can't make him so much as tremble-]

You bastard... you're just like him...!

Tell me that after I kill the royal family. Then you'll be right.

[Guy slams the door behind himself.]

[Asch doesn't move for a long time, eyes on the floor, just watching the bits of glass slide free from the door and shatter on the floor. So that's what Guy was thinking, back then? That's what he was like, without the replica? With just him around?

It's a terrible realization.

And even Luke won't be able to get Asch to say a word to anyone for a while.]
