[Asch pauses briefly- not to stall, but to really consider it. It's easy to say it, but... would he?

The less attention he got for this mess, the better. But with Dist involved now, he'd... actually kind of rather not go it alone.]

There's so much wrong with that I'm not even going into it.

Look, I cobbled together some explanation about you exhausting yourself and the fonons around here not being dense enough for spells and some such, but he won't buy it if it happens again. And he's not going to buy heartburn.

I don't see why he wouldn't accept that answer a second time, especially since the fonons are different here. It makes sense and it's as good as the truth anyway.

And if it happened when you weren't using any artes? I don't think even Luke would swallow the explanation that your fonon count is just randomly low.

It's because he cares and worries about you that he asks. Not just because you're his original and he feels guilty, but because he cares.

[Asch goes still at that, lips pursing. It's true enough- he's always been Asch, because Luke would never have known him as anything else. Even when he tried to give the name back, Asch was Asch. Guy has a good point.

[Asch blinks at the sudden shift of the subject, brows furrowing. Guy wanted to know? Well... he'd probably worry overmuch if he didn't.]

...This is the first time it's happened. [It's kind of astonishing- this is the longest he's gone without feeling that weakness for years.]

I know. But you were worried about it before, and now that it's happening again I want to help.

Dist said the degradation is slower, now. It could take years. He's going to look for a way to stop it.

If it happens again, Luke will get your hyperresonance and you'll be revived without it? Or...
