[The journal turns on with a little crash, revealing... the ceiling. Yes, very exciting.]

Stop knocking things over!

[A small, furry black face saunters over to the journal, sniffing curiously. It meows. And then, turning, flops over right on top of it, covering the camera.]

Hey, cat, get off that, it's not your damn bed.

[A small trill, and the fuzzy thing rolls over, revealing a mildly irritated redhead.]

...What the hell? You actually turned it on? Hey, dreck, the cat's from the Dawn Age.

[His tone is even mildly amused for that one. He brushes the kitten off the journal, picking it up and half-closing it. Before it shuts, he reconsiders, then grabs the pen and scribbles out a note.]

[There, that's good enough. Back to the whiny, needy little monstrosity who has moved on to making his own water dish into a cat bath. Surprise! Luke brought home a kitten for his very disgruntled original. What a wise decision this was, eh.]

[Dist sighs, then shakes his head with a very frustrated scowl. Just as he thought...though Asch's answer was something he didn't expect. Not those words, at least. He never expected Asch to take his replica's thoughts, and perhaps even his emotions, to heart. It was strange, knowing that Asch could possibly be getting on with the Luke replica. He remembered so clearly how Asch was ready to wipe "Luke" off the face of Auldrant.

But that's not the problem. Dist pushes up his glasses, giving Asch a hard stare.]

...Understood, though I'd just like to let you know how difficult you're making this for me. Now, I gave you my thoughts and options, so what is it exactly you want me to do, Asch?

[If Dist had voiced his thoughts, he'd have gotten a very different answer. Still, he's mostly right- a lot has changed.]

[He knows nothing about this, beyond the physical changes he's experiencing- or has experienced. If Dist wants to toy around with fomicry, he'll have to suffer the ever-changing condition of a live subject. That's just how it goes.]

[ ... she only smiles, a little bit, and does not respond to his question. It should be fairly self-obvious. ]

[ And, to get ready, she shuts the journal. It's more than a little unusual... she's over there frequently, but to see Asch instead of Luke? She doesn't even know if her boyfriend is there. But she can handle Asch... he's not so scary. Just kinda mad. ]

Huh? Tsuae?

[Luke turns his head to ask that question, one foot on the ground and the other held out to the side, where the kitten stares up at him and meows at him. After that brief look, he manages to get half the can into the bowl and lower it to the floor, where the cat immediately drops to and begins to eat, finally quiet.]

Hmmm... I assume Luke brought him home, then. What's his name?

What gave you that idea? [ He's laughing at you... it's fine. ]

Yes. I know it sounds strange, but it's true. Unfortunately, protozoans aren't very common. So even people from my world would be as surprised as you are when they hear about them.

[Luke's gone back to camping by then, so Xion will find Asch alone with the kitten when she arrives. He's in one of the living room chairs with a thick book, lost in a particularly lengthy passage, and the kitten... of all places, is curled up and sleeping in his lap. He might even be caught petting it if she sees him before he knows she's there. The door is slightly open, so she doesn't have to worry about him getting up. For once Luke being a dreck is in his favour.]

It's Ancient Ispanian. It more or less means sound- noise.

[Fitting, no? Although the kitten is less obnoxious when he's not wailing for food like a greedy banshee.]

So it wouldn't really count as a pet, then.

[Luke squats down by the kitten and watches him eat, though Tsuae doesn't seem to mind. He's not really sure about the name... But eh, it's Asch's cat.]

It sure suits him. [... He can't help it, though.] Can't you call him "Noisy" or something?

Tsuae... I think it's a fine name. What does it mean? [Old languages from another world... That sort of thing interests her quite a lot.]

You gotta know though! I mean, he's your roomie, right? Ya gotta have some idea.

Because "Tsuae" doesn't sound stupid.

He's probably just trying to keep me occupied or something.

"Noise". He won't shut up. [Well alright, it's an inexact translation, but it's more or less true.]

[... Okay, she just has to laugh a little. That's quite a name to call a cat! Kind of clever, too.]

What I can do, Asch, is what I have been doing for the past few months - buying you time. For the moment, that's all I'm capable of, unless you ask the Malnosso for a miracle. I still hold to the fact that the Big Bang is an irreversible phenomenon, though I will have a word with Jade if I'm able to get a hold of him. He should have more answers on the matter at hand.

[Dist shifts his weight, then gives Asch another long and searching stare. he hates having to devote so much time on someone like him, but he can't lie that the subject is a challenge he wants to succeed on.]

You'll allow me to do that much, I should hope? And run a test or two involving your hyperresonance... I pray you at least can control it to a very limited degree, correct?

It can be used to reference a song, or a nice sound. But I haven't heard a cat make one of those yet.
