[Asch can't help it- he scoffs quietly at that. It's not mocking, but when he responds, his tone is awfully dry.]

[He's not really inclined to go into details and ruin their evening either, though, so he'll attempt to shrug it off.]

Either way, it's not as interesting as being an actual princess.

[He's surprised by her interest, but hey, Natalia's someone he definitely has a few things to say about.]

I knew her when we were children- I spent a lot of time with her at the castle. One day we made a promise to ensure that the lives of our people would be first priority when we ruled Kimlasca, and after I... left, she upheld that promise even on her own. Everything she did was for the benefit of her subjects: she kept them employed, healthy, fed, and lifted their spirits when they were unhappy. In return the citizens loved her for it, and they would have died to keep her safe if they had to.

[Many had, actually- and the fact that she grieved for those deaths is one of the reasons Asch will always support her above the king, for reasons that go well beyond nostalgia.]

She's the heart of Kimlasca, and everyone knows it. That's what it means to be a princess.

[Being the heart of her country...could Rapunzel do that? She hoped she could. She did have a big heart, and she hoped there was room for everyone in it.]

So she must have been one of your best friends, to make a promise like that. I'm happy you had a friend like that, Asch.

[Her voice is a little softer at that, but she perks right back up again a moment later.]

[He lifts a brow - seriously, what kind of princess is she? He's supposed to do that for her - but since the door is already open he heads in anyway, looking around for a free table.]

Is anything reserved? ...Can you reserve tables here?

[She's her own princess, she does what she wants! Or, you know. Has no idea about some of these things.]

I asked them to keep a window table open for us. [Because window seats are the best. She steps inside a little further - aha. She spots the table she picked out still sitting open, so she waves him towards it.] This one! Come on.

[Oh, huh. Answers that question. He shrugs his shoulders and follows her to the table, and he will show her how princesses are supposed to be treated this time by pulling a chair out for her himself. That's how noblemen do it, dammit.]

I haven't been here for some time. I hardly remember what they make.

[She positively beams at him when he pulls out her chair for her.]

Thank you! [And properly thanked, she sits.]

What are you in the mood for?

[He sits across from her, taking in the view of the restaurant - it doesn't seem to have changed much in four months, but it's still nice to see - then fetches a menu to peruse.]

I'll eat anything that isn't seafood. I prefer chicken, though, if they have anything... fancy.

[For lack of a better term. He's so used to plain, home-cooked meals, it's been ages since he's gone to a restaurant.]

They DO have a very good chicken Parmesan...[She scans through the menu herself. Maybe something with noodles?] Why not seafood?

[His brows lift at that. Chicken parmesan- which just happens to be his favourite meal. Well. He knows what he's ordering now.]

I spent half my life in a port town and the other half on an island. I just got sick of eating it all the time.

Ah. I guess I'm a little sick of the things I'd eat in my tower a lot, too.

[They also happened to be the things Gothel liked, so she didn't miss them much.]

I think I'll go with the chicken alfredo.
