[Uuuuugh, he really doesn't want to do this. Human resources has literally never been his department. Even when he was prepping to become the eventual king of Kimlasca, he had certain social issues that should've been worked on; growing up in Daath and earning a reputation fitting for Asch the Bloody just made them worse.

But he's tired of spending an absurd amount of hours at a bar that he can't decide whether or not he even likes anymore just because no one else is available, especially with half the staff missing. When Norma doesn't even bother showing up to work for several days in a row that basically cements it.]

...Good Spirits is hiring. Come to the bar this afternoon for an interview if you're interested in joining the staff.

[And that's pretty much where he'll be. As usual. But don't expect to get the job just because you show up!! ...Actually, that's might just make him less inclined to hire you, which is the very definition of counter-productive. Whether that's true or not - and I'll believe it when I see it - that doesn't mean you'll be a tolerable co-worker.

I'll be honest, no one finds me tolerable at first. I'm the kind of person that grows on you.

Right. Well, what skill is that? Serving drinks or busing the tables? I can wipe down glasses if that's what you want.

I'm looking for at least one bartender and one server. That's what's currently on the table. But I'm not interested in someone who's going to give me a lot of attitude.

Lucky for you, I can do both. Had to get myself through college somehow.

[Yep. Like Asch. He can't be charmed, it's physically impossible. Still, it's a harmless enough request, and this guy isn't any more annoying than Jack Horner had been. After a moment's consideration, Asch gestures to the little door at the end of the counter, implying that Kirk has permission to come over to the other side.]

Just try not to make a mess.

[He feels like he's being mocked while doing the mocking, and he doesn't appreciate that. Still, the man seems willing enough to put up with it. That isn't a worthless trait.]

...Drink orders. We've got enough servers for now.

_{[ It's a specific talent he has honed over the years. But he nods and
picks up a towel and a bottle opener - things any good college kid should
know how to use. The specialty drinks he'd be rustier at, but it wasn't
hard to mix rum and coke or the usuals. Anything with an umbrella was

[Asch stands back to watch, his gaze critical and judging. Someone's forgotten what it's like to be a beginner at this.]

I haven't taken over, not really. But the former owners have gone home and Buffy is busy. The staff's suffering for it, and therefore so's the service. Someone had to do something.

Considering it's like the only bar in town, I'm not sure "service" makes a difference. So long as I get my drink, I'm happy.

_{[ He turned to a customer and thank god all they wanted was a beer. It
took him a second to find the right one, but he got it and popped the cap
with college proficiency and went back to cleaning out glasses.}

It was busy work, and he hadn't done it in awhile, but it was serving the purpose. There wasn't anything Star Fleet here, there wasn't anything for him to do, and if he tinkered on his own, his mind wandered to places it really shouldn't. An actual JOB though, that could keep his mind off things. Dealing with people and immediate situations - kept his mind in the now of it.

Well, he hoped it would, anyways. This little experiment might just be a giant bust. ]

[Asch keeps a critical eye during the test run, watching for mistakes, watching for success, how he treats the customers, how he handles critique, stepping in to assist when things get busy enough. Truth be told it's a little like working next to Jack again, only about half as annoying, which is an unexpected blessing.

In the end, he doesn't have to like the man, though it's easier if he does. But working with people he doesn't like is something he's had to do his entire life. Why should here be any different?]

that bright smile of his. He flashed his little towel and tossed it over
his shoulder as he handed out another beer. ]}

Well awesome. I'll take that as the highest compliment too.

There's a schedule in the back if you want to take on some shifts. We'll have a key made at the smithy. And... can you cook? We serve food here, too, so bartenders should know how to cook.

Uh... define "cook".

I can refill the nut and pretzel bowls easy enough, and it's not hard to put together a cold sandwich. I'm okay at throwing things like hot dogs or burgers or a piece of chicken on the grill, but that's just me at the apartment. I'm not exactly a trained chef or anything, never done line cooking.

[...Ugh... well, it's probably too much to ask for a perfect applicant. What he'd give for someone as versatile as Guy to-

Whatever. You'll learn on the job, then. They're not complicated dishes, just finger food at best.

Finger food sounds fancy, you know that don't you? Or do you mean just like dropping fries and some chicken in a fryer? If kids at the fast food joints can learn it, I can too.

That's... essentially what we serve here. If people want a genuine meal they can go to the restaurants down the street.

[They're not equipped to do anything fancy, anyway.]

No one comes to a bar for a genuine meal.
