Asch is wandering around the village a bit, looking for a good spot to practice some artes without killing anyone, maybe get some thinking done somewhere other than at home. He's not in any particular mood, good or bad, so if you're lucky you'll catch his good side. His journal is open since he's checking a folded map he's got attached to it, so if you're lucky, you might hear him muttering a bit.]

...so the lake's... further west from here. Damned trees turned me around...

[And Guy just swims back over to the dock, hauls himself up and takes off his boots to shake the water out.]

[And Asch floats in the water for a bit, watching him and blowing sullen bubbles under the surface.

Guess what, Guy? You're getting splashed.]

Oh yeah, real mature. Kid. [Guy just moves further down the dock to take his vest and shirt off and wring them out as well, giving them a flap and laying them on the wood to dry in the sun.]

Asch gives him a grumblyface and climbs out to kick off his boots and get rid of his tabard as well. Why the hell does he keep wearing that thing, anyway?]

[And with always superb timing, Guy takes that exact moment to execute a rather good dive back into the water. :D]

[Wh-

Ah-

...WHAT THE HELL, GUY.

Cue Asch standing all flabbergasted on the dock.]

[Guy bobs in the water like a shiny blond buoy.] ...well hurry up and take all that stuff off, Asch, you'll drown if you swim in your eighteen different layers.

[You are such a bastard, Guy.] You could've mentioned this is what you were doing, you know.

[The water does look inviting, though, especially since standing around in April weather when you're soaking wet is too chilly. Thus, he dumps a few layers on the dock and dives back in. His dive isn't as good as Guy's, but he's a soldier, not a pro swimmer.]

[Guy backstrokes around, enjoying the water. It's not the sea, but it'll do.] I thought you'd figure it out for yourself.

[Asch grumbles something half-hearted and swims after him, floating on his back with his eyes closed, kicking idly. It's nice. Kinda peaceful.] I'm a dumb kid, remember?

Mmm, that's right. [Guy's not too inclined to fight right now. Too busy relaxing.]

[Aaaayup. They might be here for a while.] ...Why do you like swimming so much?

[Guy waves shifts his arms to alter his drifting slightly.] I don't know. I just love the water.

[Asch is quiet for a little while, thinking.] I used to hate it. I never really understood what it was good for.

...water's what gives everything in the world life.

But it destroys life, too. And it's just another way to keep people away from each other.

Asch, what are you talking about?

...I'm just rambling. It doesn't matter anymore.

[Guy weighs the pros and cons of pressing for information and decides to leave it be, returning to his floating.]

[Probably for the best, anyway, since Asch feels a little foolish now; still, he can't help but swim a little closer, if only so that water-separation belief stops bothering him.]

[That is until Guy gives a kick, unaware of Asch floating closer, and bonks their heads together.]

Ow-!

[fffff flounder.]

That hurt!

[Guy flounders a bit more gracefully, rubbing his head.] I didn't do it on purpose.

[Well, that was embarrassing.] I never said you did.
