[Early in the morning, Asch is by the section of trees close to the river outside House 5, standing in the snow in just his uniform, holding the Key of Lorelei. He seems fixated on whatever it is he's doing, namely holding the Key tip-down into the snow, both hands on the end of the hilt, eyes closed as he focuses. Every few moments you might catch a slight glow around him, little more than a flicker before it fades.

Talk, harass, troll, lurk? He's open for bothering, though he won't like it. |D]

[Asch's eyes are focused on his hands, watching them intently as if in any minute they won't be there anymore.]

...Guy. If I-

[And he cuts himself off there, because whatever he has to say probably isn't what Guy needs to hear right now.]

Yes? [And Guy asks for him to continue in the most plain and simple way he can think of. No misinterpreting that.]

[...Oh, Guy. Someday that smile will be your undoing.] ...Guy, if something happens, I don't want you to forget this.

[Guy doesn't answer for a while.

He can't make that promise. The very nature of Luceti wipes any and all certainties pertaining to memories away. He can't promise to remember because he might leave, or they might alter his memories and then Asch would have one more broken promise to hold in his heart.

That, perhaps, was what made Luceti so scary. Above all else.]

...Asch... [But he can't just say nothing. Guy pauses, then takes Asch's hand between his own.] ...I promise that no matter what, I'll always come to you. ...maybe not right away, not if...something happens. If I forget.

But...give me time. Give me enough time...and I will. Always. [A servant always answers his master's call.]

[And truth be told, he wasn't asking for any promises. There wasn't a single promise in his life that hadn't been broken, not one. His father's vows that tomorrow, tomorrow perhaps he'll have time for his only son. The promises of the doctors that one more medicine will help his mother's health. His promise with Natalia. His promise with Luke. Everything that Van had ever told him.

Not one. Not even Guy's. And he knew it, just as Guy did- Luceti didn't allow for promises.

But the words were nice, even for now. Because he had no doubts that Guy meant it, that he genuinely wanted to keep that promise.]

...There's no point in making promises.

[There's no conviction in his voice, though, and no mockery. He accepts the promise for what it is, and the hands around his give it more solidity than any words could. Words meant nothing, words were lies.

The hands around his meant it was true- because they were both still here to believe in them.]

[Ahhh, he'd expected that. But Guy only gives an easy smile, squeezes Asch's hands and then lifts one to his forehead.] I'll go get your tea. Be back in a minute.

[Asch nods, licking dry lips.

But he doesn't let go of Guy's hand.]

...gonna need that back to get it, Asch.

...Right. [He lets go hastily, looking away.] Sorry.

[Guy gives Asch a bemused look, but stands and heads out to go collect his tea.]

[Asch flops back against the pillows and waits, hands shifting to clench at the sheets instead, mentally counting off. Just a minute, it'll only take a minute.

You're not going anywhere.]

[Guy takes a moment in the kitchen to give Asch's actions, words and expressions some thought, as if he can figure out everything that's going on just by giving it a few minutes to process.

No grand epiphany comes along though, so he's out of luck. Damn.]

[Tea's not finished, but-

Hurry hurry.] Yes? Asch, what is it, are you okay?

[...What even, why did he do that.

Seriously, why? He can't even think of a proper response.]

...Sorry. Forget it.

[Faint smile. Guy has an idea as to why.] All right. I'll be right back.

[Asch just nods, keeping his eyes averted once again. Now you're just being pathetic.

...But Guy came, anyway.]

[All right, this time he's coming back with tea.] Sorry I took so long at first.

[Asch has more or less settled down, though he still feels kind of foolish for calling out like that.] Don't apologize.

Too late! [Guy holds out Asch's mug for him to take.]

[Rrm. He takes the cup gratefully, though, sipping lightly at it.] So how long do you expect me to stay in bed this time?

Well, not very long. I'd like you to stay the rest of the day, but I'm not that stupid.
