[It's been a few days since Asch and Luke were split, and someone's finally recovered enough to wake up. There's a lot on his mind, but the first and foremost issue he takes care of, upon finding his journal by the nightstand, is:]

...I need something to eat.

[After which he starts flipping through the journal to see what he's missed, since he'll be damned if he's going to fall out of bed and crawl to the kitchen for it.]

I'd rather practice without the dramatics involved. [Step, step, step. He's getting steadier the further he goes.]

They're an essential part of the process, Asch, you can't really skip that.

If you're so fond of them, you can be the one always getting into trouble.

I apparently just have better luck than you.

It's a little pathetic, but I'm not even surprised.

Them's the breaks. [Guy pauses to coaxed the bathroom door open before helping Asch shuffle in.]

No sympathy as usual. [Well, at least he's getting a bath out of all this harassment. :| Plus he really has missed Guy's teasing. Playful as he had felt while joined with the replica, the awkwardness had kind of ruined things most of the time. He sits himself down on the closest seat and starts to wrestle out of his shirt.]

[Guy sits on the edge of the tub, letting Asch fumble his way to nakedness on his own in favor of filling the bath.]

[You'll be lucky if he doesn't dunk you again or something :| It doesn't take him too long, thankfully, and once that bit's over and done with, he swings his legs over to rest his feet in the water while he watches it fill up.]

...What would you have done, if we'd stayed like that?

Dealt with it. [He checks the water temperature against his wrist.]

...Hm. [Better to not dig into that. He has too many misgivings about the whole situation to tempt fate.] ...I should thank you. For helping us, I mean.

[Oh for Yulia's sake.] Asch, you don't have to thank me for something like that.

...It's not like I feel obligated or anything. But I want to. You didn't have to help.

[He can't really admit that he hadn't expected Guy to.]

Love doesn't work like that. ["And you know it" is left unsaid.]

I wouldn't have blamed you if you hadn't. [He does know it. But he also knows hiding when you're in pain.]

Would you shut up? [Guy mutters something that could be, "for Yulia's sake," beneath his breath as he reaches over to help Asch into the tub.]

[And he shuts up. Reluctantly, but he does get the hint.

The water feels nice on his skin, though, so he's admittedly grateful for the distraction.]

[Guy helps Asch get his back situated against the back of the tub; the last thing he needed was a cracked skull, at least. He starts lifting palmfulls of water to Asch's skin to warm him up. And he remembers a promise he made before all this happened...about honesty.]

Yes, it hurt. It hurt a lot. But I didn't blame either of you, or him, for it.

[Asch remains quiet for a long moment after that, thinking it over carefully. Finally he reaches up, lightly grasping one of Guy's hands, and tugs it to his lips, holding it there.

He's always been the better man by far.]

[Guy gives Asch a mildly exasperated smile, but reaches up to pat his cheek with his free hand.]

Besides, I'm a big boy. I can handle myself. Either way, I think I've learned my lesson about leaving the past where it belongs, so why don't we forget about how hard it must've been for me and instead concentrate on how happy I am now that you're both back?

[Asch's lips quirk into a little smile at that, releasing his hand.] So just how happy are you?

Oh, considerably happy.

'Considerably'? That's not very satisfying.

Well I could say that I'm absolutely ecstatic but I figured you'd scoff and call me a liar.

....No one would believe that.
